Summer 2011 PDF Print E-mail

Hey Friends,

God is absolutely amazing! Summer is in full swing and great things are happening. Our scheduled is slammed, and the Holy Spirit is slamming the hearts of young and old alike.  I have the wonderful privilege to travel with a talented ministry team and band (Tattered Saints).  We are seeing a God pour out on his people.

Our Senior High I.A. (I’m Accepted) Camp was powerful.  This camp is geared for underprivileged and “at risk” students.  Some of the things that these students have to endure are unreal.  We saw lives transform before our eyes.  Many of the students come very guarded and broken.  To watch God change their lives and give them hope is pretty amazing. There were 4 students saved and 15 rededications.

The folks at Camp Smokey took great care of our students.  They spoiled them rotten.  Of all the camps we have ever attended, the workers there go above and beyond to reach out and minister to our students.  Thanks to Paul and his family and the interns…

The theme of the camp was “Heaven’s Gain”.  We challenged the students to understand the difference between temporary, earthly, material philosophy and eternal, heavenly gain.  We had the opportunity to go to Greenbriar to swim in the mountain creek.  It was a day of splish-splash and sunburns.  We visited Pigeon Forge and our friends at Country Tonite.  Our hats are off to Kevin, Ronnie and the other performers who always make us feel at home.  The new show was fantastic.  Thank you for blessing our students and showing them the love of Jesus.

Our last full day at camp, the students went to Gatlinburg.  They had ministry assignments to do.  They all represented Jesus well.  The parents and guardians would have been proud.  What a blessing to see them NOT be ashamed of Christ.

BEACH WEEK was incredible as well.  It was held at Landmark Resort in Myrtle Beach, SC. We had attendees from Ohio, West Virginia, Virginia, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, and Tennessee.  The theme of the week was “The Pursuit”.  We learned what we needed to leave behind and the things we should pursue as believers.  The week was very challenging resulting in 8 salvations and 12 rededications.  We baptized 19 in the ocean on Thursday evening…what an amazing witness for our Lord.

We traveled on up the east coast to Southport, NC.  We did an evening concert in the park.  It was a blessing to be outside in God’s cathedral and worship Him.  We had a wonderful, relaxed evening and enjoyed catching up with some friends (Chuck and Cindy Silvey) and meeting new ones.

The following Sunday morning, we did a concert in the a.m. at Southport First Baptist.  4 people committed their lives to Christ and there was an awesome spirit of worship in the place.  Some new doors were opened for us there and we look forward to going back next year to do some concerts on the beach.

We got back late that night and started the next morning (Monday) on practices for our Patriotic show.  We worked the cast hard and finally had time to practice our songs the day before we opened.  I thank God for a group of talented singers and musicians who work with such professional attitudes.  I am truly blessed to have the best on my team.

The Patriotic Tribute 2011 show opened this past week at LampLight Theatre.  We had two dinner theatre performances and the show was well received.  There have been 14 decisions for salvation and 14 for rededication so far.

We consider it a blessing to honor our troops and their families for all that they have sacrificed for our freedom.  We are blessed to live in America.   The show is reflective of who we are as Americans, but most of all, who we are in Christ.  Through Christ, God has not only shed His grace, but also His blood that we might be set FREE.

We have the July 4th Parade in Kingsport tomorrow and will be performing on the float.  We love the parades.  It is a wonderful witness for our faith and is a great opportunity for people to see and know more about who we are.

The Patriotic Tribute starts back up again this Wednesday night at 7 PM.  We will go through Sunday afternoon.  Nightly shows are at 7:00 PM from Wednesday through Saturday with additional matinees on Saturday at 2:00 PM and Sunday at 3:00 PM. If you are interested in attending contact the box office (423) 348-7610.  Ask for FREE vouchers for reading this blog.

We are now gearing up for A.I.M. (Artists in Ministry) conference at the theatre.  It will be held July 18-22. Check it out on the website. Come and learn about creative ministry.  All ages are welcome to attend.

We will be headed out next week to West Virginia and Ohio. Please check our travel schedule and catch up with us on the road.  We want to see you.

Please pray for our vehicle.  “Red Rhonda” is doing great, but has a few issues when pulling our heavy trailer.  Our bus is still broken down after a year and a half.  The insurance company will not come through and neither will the company that worked on it.  It has been an ongoing struggle.  No one wants to take the responsibility to fix it.  Please be in prayer for us…

I want to thank everyone who has bought my book, “And God Was Watching”.  The book launch was great and very overwhelming.  We had our first book signing yesterday (Saturday, July 2nd) at LifeWay Christian Bookstore in Johnson City.  They said that it was the largest attended book signing ever for that location.  Thanks for coming out and supporting.  It is my prayer that this book will change lives.

We are still working on new music and God is inspiring it all.  We look forward to getting into the studio soon. I hope to have a new project by fall.  God’s timing is perfect.  Meantime, we are singing some of the music now.  If you want to hear it, come out and see us.

By the way, I will be in concert with Tattered Saints at the Theatre on July 30th.  It will be a great time of worship.  Please tell your friends and family to come out and celebrate with us.

Keep us in your prayers as we have these performances at the theatre and for our travel schedule as well.  Pray for our health and safe travels.  Pray for God to use us for His sake… that is all that matters.

In Him,

Billy Wayne

And God Was Watching... PDF Print E-mail

Dear Friends,

I am very excited about the release of the book, And God Was Watching: A Biography of Billy Wayne.  This is an exciting time for me personally and for our ministry.  This has been a long time coming and I believe it is God’s perfect timing.

This book has been a labor of love both for Janet Gibson and me.  Janet has been a true friend for over 20 years and without her prompting, this book would never have been written.  She knew that God wanted this book written and took it upon herself to complete the task at hand.  The result has been very healing and rewarding.

It has been an amazing journey to look back and see how God orchestrated events to accomplish his will and purpose in a little kid from the Appalachian Mountains of east Tennessee and southwest Virginia.  The obstacles that were placed before me were nothing to God, only testimonies of what He could do in what seemed to be impossible situations.

I look at my dad and see what “Amazing Grace” really means.  It is hard to believe that God truly can take what Satan meant for evil and turn it into apples of gold.   When I reflect on this book-writing adventure, I know that God reminded me of how many prayers He answered even when I didn’t acknowledge that it was him at work.  His faithfulness in answering every cry was overwhelming to me.  It might not have been the answer I wanted, but it was His perfect answer and timing.

I pray that this book will bring healing to a lot of hurting people.  I hope that it inspires people not to use their situations as excuses not to be all that God has called them to be.  Our tragedies and struggles should be springboards of faith; to fling ourselves into the arms of God and to trust that He trusts us to show His glory in difficult situations.

I owe my life to God and I owe a gratitude of thanks to so many people who encouraged and prayed for me during dark times in my life.  I thank God for each person who believed in me and in the power of prayer to change not only my life, but my family as well.

May you be inspired to know that God chooses us to be sifted by the enemy as wheat.  Like Job, God may mention your name to the devil knowing that in the tragedy of your life that you will never forsake the name of Jesus.  How you handle your trials should bring honor to God and God alone.  Those around you will be able to see that only God could change everything for His glory. Whatever trial we face, may we never forget …God is watching.

Burlington Christian Academy PDF Print E-mail

Hey Friends,

God has been up to some awesome things at Burlington Christian Academy. We have had the opportunity to spend time with a wonderful student body and a great staff.  Having worked with many Christian schools, I am really impressed with BCA.  The atmosphere is not one of apathy as we often see in Christian Schools.  There is a hunger and genuine love for the Lord in many of the students.

This week, we have seen many hearts broken and humble before God during Chapel services and in the classes. We have gotten to know a few of the students personally.  God has been stirring hearts in a big way.  We are humbled at His presence.

Today, in the Middle School and High School Chapel, 20 students accepted Christ and 65 students rededicated their lives to Christ.  It was overwhelming to see so many broken people before the Lord.

We are looking forward to tomorrow and the chapel service with the K5 through 5th graders.  We know that God will do an incredible work.  It has been very humbling to know that God has allowed us to be a part of this week.  We want to thank the teachers and the administration, especially Cathy Moffit.   They have given us the freedom to minister and we will never be the same….

Tomorrow, March 25 at 7:00 PM, we will be doing a concert at the Academy.  Please come out if you are in the area.  We would love to see you there.  We have been working with a few students on Creative Ministry.  They will be joining on the stage during the concert as well.

We also have a concert on Sunday morning at Christian Bible Fellowship in Burlington/Greensboro area.  Please pray as we continue serving the Lord.  Pray for strength and for God to continue to move.  It has been a privilege to serve at this academy.

God is Amazing!

We are headed home to Tennessee after our Hide & Seek Tour.  In 14 days, we had 13 Concerts/Speaking engagements not including ministry time with individuals.  We were extremely busy and covered a lot of territory.

-Thanks to Tyler (Bass Player and Driver) for getting us safely from place to place.

-Thanks to Jacob (Road Manager and Band Leader) for taking care of the details and

getting us into the presence of Jesus.

-Thanks to Carmen (Booking and Keys) for getting the trip and locations lined up and for

using your gifts to edify Jesus.

-Thanks to Derek (Drummer and Roadie) for loading and unloading without complaint

and for praising Jesus with the rhythm of your heart.

-Thanks to Mary (Merchandise and Sound) for taking care of product and for getting our

music out there for people to hear.

- Thanks to Michelle and Ridge for joining us the last weekend in St. Marys.  You were

            a Godsend.

-Thanks to all of the churches that sponsored our concerts.  We are grateful for you allowing us to come.  Thanks to all of you who came out to support us.  We had an awesome time.

This weekend concluded our trip and was a true “cherry on top” for us.  We had a great concert Saturday night (Aug. 28) at St. Marys High School sponsored by First Baptist Church of St. Marys.  WOW!!! You folks did an incredible job.  You truly have a vision for souls and know how to organize an event.

We saw the altar filled with people getting things right before God.  There was an out-pouring of God’s spirit on that place.  At least 12 made professions of faith and numerous rededications.

Our friend, Anthony Mossburg, opened the evening and set hearts in motion to listen to the Lord.  He is a true servant of Christ and dear friend.  God is using him in a mighty way.  I encourage you to book him for your church…He is an awesome man of God.

Thanks to Grady and the tech crew for all the hard work.  Wonderful job on the sound and lighting.  Thanks to High Voltage youth group and leaders for your servant hearts.  You took great care of us.

Our tour ended with a Sunday morning worship service at First Baptist Church of St.Marys. Thanks Pastor John for trusting me to stand in the pulpit.  I was humbled by your heart.  If we had more pastors in America like you, it would be amazing what God could get accomplished.

The service was awesome.  We were all amazed at God’s presence.  High Voltage did an awesome job on their skit and God sat down with us.  Many lives were changed and all of us were humbled to be a part of it all.

During the tour, there were over 40 recorded salvation decisions that we know about. We are waiting for some decision cards to be sent into the office.  Hundreds of lives were changed and thousands of seeds were sown.  We just praise God that He used us one more time.

Please look for us on the road again and come to visit us at LampLight Theatre in Fall Branch, TN.  We have auditions this week for our Christmas Production (Candy Maker’s Dream) and next week, we start work on our alternative Halloween production (Freak Show).  We are believing for even greater things ahead…..

Dear Friends,

We just left Pennsylvania.  We had a great visit with our friends from Waynesburg and Canonsburg (Washington Area).  God moved powerfully in both concerts as He poured out His Spirit on all of us.  It wasn’t just a time for us to minister to others.  They ministered to us.  It was like being at home.

Kathy and Jim Carpenter were our hosts for Friday evening.  Their ministry is with the W.W.J.D. (West Waynesburg Jesus Distribution Center) in West Waynesburg. They have a unique outreach there that has spanned several years.  It is amazing to see how God continues to use them to reach the people in that community.

We had an outdoor concert literally in their backyard.  Folks seemed to come from everywhere.  We could see people on their porches and in their homes and apartments enjoying a great evening of worship and ministry.  God gave us incredible weather as we celebrated throughout the evening.  There were 3 people saved and 1 person rededicated their life to the Lord.  Countless others were ministered to and God seemed to fall on that neighborhood.  It was a beautiful time of praise.

We cannot thank the Carpenters enough for their hospitality and vision.  They were able to purchase a local bar this past year and turn it into an outreach center.  God has great plans in store for that building.  We cannot wait to see the doors of ministry that will be opened for them through this new facility.  We had the opportunity to have some food and fellowship after the concert at “The West Sides” facility.  We closed the night with prayer and look forward to more times of ministry in the future.  Thank you, people of West Waynesburg for always making us feel at home and for taking such good care of us.  We love you and are praying for God to continue to pour out His Spirit in West Waynesburg…

Thanks to Daryl and Robin Throckmorton for letting us crash in their home.  You guys are the best!  Daryl Minor, thanks for hanging out with us and for being a great host for the evening.  Thank you, Lindsey Minor, for the cookies and muffins.

It was great seeing my old drummer, Shane Ayers and Amy.  Thank you, Kaylee, for my picture.  I will cherish it forever.  Cristy, thanks for the prayer and encouragement. God is still using you in mighty ways.

We are grateful for our friends and ministry partners that are always so welcoming and for taking such good care of us.  We look forward to coming back up to see you…

Saturday night, we moved on to Canonsburg to Christian Bible Fellowship.  WOW! What a night.   God showed up and I was humbled by His presence.  Halfway through the concert, God begin to lead in another direction.  Thank God for my band (Tattered Saints) for being so flexible in the following the leading of the Holy Spirit.  15 people made professions of faith for salvation and 22 people renewed their relationship with Christ… It was overwhelming to see how God worked that night.

Thanks to all of you who fed us and fed us and fed us again… Thank you, Ed and Debbie for allowing us to stay in your home.  Your hospitality was above and beyond anything we deserved.  You spoiled us rotten and we appreciate it.  Your home is filled with the love and presence of Jesus.  Thanks for sharing your heart and home.  It is your turn to visit us…

Thanks James and Janice for your encouragement and for asking us back.  We are excited to see that your youth group has doubled in size and that you continue to have a vision. Thanks to the pastoral staff for trusting us, especially Pastor Andy.  You are such an encouragement to me and my team.  We love you and your wife so much.

We are expecting you to pack that bus for Beach Week 2011.  If anybody wants to hitch a ride from that area, make sure you get on board.  They are chartering a bus to Beach Week next year and are looking to pack it out.

Sunday morning Worship Service was another time of God’s outpouring.  It was nice not only to minister, but to be ministered to….  We truly felt at home and in the presence of people who love Jesus.  You folks certainly know how to minister to others… We look forward to Beach Week and to some of you coming to Tennessee to visit LampLight Theatre.   Come down and let us take care of you.

We are now on the road to Auburn, NY.  We will be staying with the Hammersly family over the next couple of days as we minister at Auburn Alliance Church.  Thank you, Wendy, for having us back.  Monday Night is going to be awesome.  If you are in the area, please come out to the concert.  We are expecting God to move in a mighty way….Get your spiritual seatbelts on…Ready or not, New York.  Here we come!!!

Please be in prayer as we continue this concert tour and mission trip.  God is doing some God-sized things and we are blessed to be a part of it.

Later Ya’ll,

Billy Wayne and Tattered Saints
